About
How my journey began.
I was trained at the Welsh School of Musical Instrument Making and Repair, obtaining the City and Guilds of London certificate in piano tuning and repair, and a college diploma in Piano Tuning, Repair and Restoration. I then worked for Robert Morley & Co Ltd in London for 10 years, in piano tuning and restoration, majoring in Piano regulation, action overhauls, and re-stringing on both upright and grand pianos. While at Robert Morley & Co, I was able to build on the knowledge and experience I had gained at college and develop my skills. Learning along side experienced technicians, and having the opportunity to work on many different types and ages of pianos gave me a thorough grounding, particularly in piano restoration and regulation.
Since 2000 I have been living and working in Birmingham as a self employed piano tuner technician. I have experience tuning upright and grand pianos in homes, schools/colleges, studios, theatres and other entertainment venues. Having also carried out a wide range of piano restoration work including action overhauls, replacing of hammers, dampers & strings, and soundboard and bridge repairs, I have gained an extensive knowledge of problems and issues relating to the proper working of a piano. I am also a full member of the Pianoforte Tuners’ Association .
